Molly and Will’s love story has unfolded over many years in the most meaningful way and it all began in 2015 thanks to a seating chart in high school senior year English class. When their teacher rearranged the classroom, Molly and Will found themselves sitting next to each other, and suddenly their assignments took a backseat to their conversation. As they got to know one another, they realized they had a lot in common. Will played on the basketball team, while Molly was part of the hockey team. Although their winter sports rarely crossed paths, this new connection gave them the perfect excuse to cheer each other on from the stands.
After their first date to Jerry’s Grocery Store and driving around Edina, the two became inseparable. They survived English class together, made it to senior prom, and officially started dating in 2016. Before long, graduation arrived, and they headed off in different directions. Molly went to the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, Minnesota, while Will traveled to Easton, Massachusetts to play basketball at Stonehill College. This marked the beginning of their long distance relationship.
Molly and Will continued to make memories together despite the miles between them. They spent the summers together and during the school year they traveled to Boston, Mexico, and even reunited in Ireland while Molly studied abroad. After graduation, they bravely continued long distance once more when Will signed with a professional basketball team in Groningen, Netherlands. The challenges of COVID made things difficult, but thanks to a loophole in the Netherlands travel policy, Molly was able to visit during that time.
Our Story
Will’s next basketball adventure took him to Albacete, Spain, which allowed the two of them to explore new cities together, including Madrid, Paris, and Alicante. His years playing basketball in Europe were unforgettable, filled with championships, meaningful friendships, and incredible experiences. During this same time, Molly built a career of her own, working for several professional sports teams and establishing herself within the highly competitive industry.
In 2022, after winning a championship in Spain, Will hung up his basketball shoes and began his new career in Los Angeles. Molly spent an extra year in Minnesota after she landed her dream job with the Wild. By 2023, after years of flights, time zones changes, and goodbyes, they were finally ready to close the distance for good. Molly moved to California, and the two began their next chapter in Venice, where they’ve lived happily together for the last three years.
What started as seat assignment turned into a lifetime at each other’s side, and they cannot wait to celebrate their love surrounded by the people who have supported them every step of the way.
